Flashback:
40 years ago
Rod Sherman stood on the sideline and suggested to Coach John
McKay: “84 Z Delay.” Coach McKay said “yes” and sent Sherman
into the game.
Facing
a fourth-down situation with 1:33
remaining in the fourth
quarter, Sherman
caught a Craig Fertig pass to upset undefeated #1 ranked Notre
Dame in the final game of the 1964 season.
Last
year Sherman
met with Coach Pete Carroll and suggested a novel camp idea:
Trojan Flashback Football . Coach Carroll
said “yes” and last June “A Fantasy Camp for Grown-Up
Kids” was executed with equal success.
Launched
at Heritage Hall and the L.A. Coliseum, the USC coaching staff
combined with Trojan Greats – Mix, McKeever, Cunningham,
McDonald, White, Cunerty, Davis, Vella, Jensen, Jackson, Lott,
Fertig, Martin, and Papadakis to provide an action-packed,
fun-filled football experience!
So
successful was the 2004 program, that two sessions of Trojan
Flashback Football have been scheduled for June, 2005.
